Verotik's first video release, "The Satanika Anime Pilot" hits #1.

January 20, 1998

After premiering and delighting fans at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, along with the crowds of fans who swamped the Verotik booth at the San Diego Comic Convention, the Satanika Animated Pilot topped all other video releases in the comic industry for, January 1998.

Based on the popular Verotik character, Satanika, with animation by Japan's famed MadHouse Studios ("X", Ninja Scroll, Wicked City), this clip features a super team with charecters designs by Kawajiri, storyboards by Rintaro, and a soundtrack by Danzig. The Satanika pilot is, needless to say, an incredible piece of work.

"Enough fans were blown away by the pilot at the Anime Expo and San Diego Comic Convention that word spread quickly", said Steven Wardlaw, Verotik's managing editor. "The decision to release the pilot was based on consumer demand. That's why it shot to #1. The pilot video is designed to hold fans over until the full-length O.A.V. is ready for the general public. Datenshi's production crew worked with MadHouse and Verotik on interviews for the video with the animation team and series creator Glenn Danzig, and a guided tour of the fabled MadHouse Studios. The video seems to have a life of its own. This kind of excitement is usually saved for the full-length. I don't think a pilot has ever seen this type of attention. It's a tribute to the quality and cutting edge nature that the Satanika character has represented since issue #1 of the comic series."

Interest in the Satanika has reached an all-time high. Pieces of the Satanika animation clip were even aired on "MTV NEWS" and "The Week In Rock." Movie studios are showing interest in not just animation, but in a live-action feature. At the request of Japan's Superfest, Danzig brought his Verotik World Invasion to the Japanese market where fans were astounded by the high level of animation being used as compared to the normally low level that American companies are known for. Fans were shocked and delighted that Verotik was working with a top Japanese studio like MadHouse.

The staff and creators at Verotik would like to thank everyone for the incredible success of the Satanika pilot, and can assure you that this is just the beginning.
