DANZIG Always threatening, always seductive, and of late employing a member with similar punk roots, Glenn Danzig pairs up with Todd Youth of Murphy’s Law glory, completing the coven is bassist, John Lazie and drummer, Joey Castillo. DANZIG 6:66 Satan’s Child on E-Magine and Evilive, is the authentic master of the damned at his virile peak with varied evidence of musical depth. "East Indian Devil (Kali’s Song)" weds evil and electronica. In fact, Glenn stated that there were students of the electronica school present when the CD materialized, "J (Gordon) and Amir (Derahk) mixed like six or seven tracks. I’m a big Orgy fan but I’ve know J for a long time because he’s friends with my drummer, Joey so I remember him before he even had Orgy together, a pretty talented guy." Track 3, "Linin" triggers memories of Danzig's demonic beauty serenade off of Lucifuge, "Her Black Wings." In the midst of his comic book company, Veroic and filming videos for "Five Finger Crawl" and "Unspeakable," Glenn found time to unite members from his other acclaimed project forming after departing from the Misfits. Glenn revealed Danzig's supporting act on the road, "On the first part of this tour, just for fun and right before Danzig, Samhain is going to do like 10 or 11 songs. Like maybe there will be like a 15-minute intermission and Danzig will just come out." With Satan’s Child and an earlier date of his tour happening in Boston on Halloween night, Danzig is back to reclaim the hell he created.

Music.com: What do you think Todd Youth adds to the band?

Glenn: He adds a very natural real guitar player vibe and he comes from the same background as me Joey and Lazie, a punk background so its all kind of kindred spirits so its kind of cool.

Music.com: How come it’s taken a while since the new release?

Glenn: I had to get out of my Hollywood contract, like three weeks into the last album, BlackAcidDevil, Disney pulled the plug on us. They just freaked that there was this satanic or supposed satanic band on the label and Disney was just getting emailed like crazy and phone calls like what is Danzig doing on the Disney label. It was just a big nightmare. Then we were finally out of our contract and we were going to get our settlement and leave, I was going to get all my stuff back and a new guy came in to run it because they fired the guy that hired us. He was like I’m keeping Danzig you guys are staying and I called my lawyer like, "I’m not staying on this, fucking label, no way. " In about a month they said you can go, so we didn’t want to start the new record until we were free and clear of that whole situation. As soon as were and we got our settlement we started recording Danzig 6, last September.

Music.com: Why did you pick "Satan’s Child" for the title track?

Glenn: I started thinking about it awhile ago, then I remember telling the guys while recording, we’re calling this record Satan’s Child. It’s the sixth record so it has to be DANZIG 666 and we’re calling it Satan’s Child. They were like really? And I was like yea, because there was a song called "Satan’s Child."

Music.Com: Are you making a video?

Glenn: Yea we’re going to shoot two videos back to back "Five Finger Crawl" and "Unspeakable." I don’t want to give to much away but "Unspeakable" is going to be shot outside, performance with the band and other post apocalyptic stuff going on. "Five Finger" we got so many ideas bouncing around on that one we’re going to hone it down and then do that. It will be a little more indoors setting a little more, creepy, it be cool.

Music.com: Do you have a song on the Crow 3 soundtrack?

Glenn: Yea the producers just called up and said they wanted "Belly of the Beast" on the Crow 3 movie. I think its going to be the title too that’s pretty cool it will be featured in the movie. The soundtrack is coming out like February or March.

Music.com: Do you have a comic book company?

Glenn: Yea, it's not like superheroes or anything and there’s nobody in underwear running around but there’s a lot of sex, a lot of violence and just crazy barbarians or demons. Nothing like DC or Marvel. I design a lot of the characters a lot of the villains, I write most of the stories then we have other artists that actually do the artwork.

Music.com: Did you use any of Giger’s artwork for the cover?

Glenn: No, but there’s a really good artist from New Zealand, his name is, Marty Emond. He did the limited edition BlackAcidDevil cover and he did a bunch of the illustrations in this booklet also Simon Bisely, the guy who did the Thrall cover, he’s pretty famous. This is too funny, we thought this(the orginal cover) might be too suggestive for stores that they wouldn’t carry it so I hired Simon to do this cover. Now everybody is demanding that they get to buy this cover. If we were to just put out would they would have said you can’t carry it, go back and do another cover so we did it the opposite way, it’s funny. It’s very limited right now you’re only going to be able to get this on the Internet.

Music.com: Will there be a Samhain box set in stores?

Glenn: Yea, the Samhain box set is going to be like a really cool package. It’s not going to be like unreleased stuff, two live records and possible some video stuff. Marty again put the cover on it; it’s got all these vines and skulls. I actually met him on a Danzig tour, and he had his sketchbook, he wanted me to sign it. He had this incredible art work and he showed me this book he was doing for another comic book company, this character called Lobo and I said man your art work is really incredible. I just kept in touch with him and when I started Veroic, I said, "Man you want to do some stuff for my company, since then he’s probably done some of his best work at our the company.

Music.com: Is there ever going to be a Misfits reunion?

Glenn: No, for me that time was a great time, I was really young and it was great. We’re never going to be able to go back to that and none of the guys really ever stayed friends except the two brothers. So you know there’s nothing really there for me, and I‘ve just moved on so far.

Music.Com: Out of curiosity, what is your religious orientation?

Glenn: I have none. I mean don’t care, it's like there’s so many different religions, I can tell you that I believe in Yin and Yang. Some people say your really dark and ok well yea that’s me you like it great, you don’t that’s fine.

~THE END~
