Danzig and Doyle show.

Yesterday I made the trip to LA to see Danzig with Doyle, As I lay Dying, and Bleeding Through. I went with my brother, John, and Legend. The drive to LA was very shitty; we went through crazy rain and even some snow while going over the grapevine. My back started to hurt half way through the drive down to LA (which I will go into more in a min.). After we got into LA we ended up going to the venue where we waited in line for about 3 hours. I was shocked to see so many people waiting in line already. Most Danzig shows I have been to the lines were nothing like that. I ended up seeing Devilman about an hour and half before they opened the doors. He told us to move up front with the reset of the people from the 7th House. I then got to meet a few people from the 7th House (it was very nice to meet you guys). By this point may back was hurting so bad it’s not even funny and to add to it I was freezing my ass off. Around 7pm the doors opened we went in and secured our seats.

The 1st band to play was a local band by the name of Eyes of fire. The band it self was not all that bad. The next band up was Bleeding Through. Now Bleeding Through is a band I have a few CD’s for an really like their CD’s. But seeing them live was kind of a let down. They had a great stage presence but they sounded like shit to me live. There is so much more on their CD’s that just did not come through in their live set. Next was As I lay Dying. This is a band I really wanted to see live as I have been listening to their CD “Frail Words Collapse” none stop for some time now. They put on a killer fucking set! All the songs they played were fucking great and I was hella happy to hear them play the song Elegy as it’s my favorite off of the CD I have.

Next up was the highlight of the fucking night! Danzig cam out on to the stage and jumped right into Skin Carver, then continued on with a killer set of Danzig songs. One thing I noticed about the set is that it was an even mixed of all previous Danzig albums. They even played How the Gods kill! Then after the onslaught of Danzig songs he announced Doyle. When Doyle came out (and any time he walked for that matter) he was making a robotic crunching noise with his guitar for every foot step he made through out the time he was on stage. Half of me through it was cool and half of me through it was too much cheese. Anyways, they busted right into 20 Eyes and it was fucking great! I have not have not been so hyped at a show before in my life. I turned into instant dork and could not stop my self from singing along and getting crazy. After the short bombardment of Misfits songs (done better than Jerry Only could have every dreamed) Glenn then went right into some more Danzig tunes. The whole show was none stop action when it came to changing out between Danzig and Misfits songs. After a few more Danzig songs the band went off stage as if the show was over. But if have every been to a Danzig show you know that is not the case. The band came back out and did some more Danzig and Misfits songs. This had to be the best Danzig show I have ever seen in my life, fuck that, it was the best show Danzig or not! To tell you the truth I would having loved that show just as much if Doyle was there or not. If it was just Danzig doing Misfits songs I would have totally been good with that. Doyle seemed too cheesy to me and did not really add anything to the show.

After the show John and I meet up with my brother and Legend out side the venue. We then jumped right back in the car to go home. By this time my back was so fuct up it’s not even funny. I was in big time pain and could hardy keep from falling over because of it. I tried to find some place to eat to if that might help but nothing on the strip was open on the inside to eat. We ended stopping at the In-N-Out burger from before the grapevine. I tried to eat a cheese burger but that was just not gonna happen. My back was hurting so bad that the burger tasted like shit. I then drove us overt the grapevine through the shitty as rain. Once I got us over the grapevine I had to have my brother take over driving for some time. After he was driving for a while I had to have him pull over. My back hurt so much by that point that it made me puke. After I puked I got some Advil and crashed for a while in the car. I woke up not to long after and drove the rest of the way home. Boy! Was I glad to see my bed!
