Tickets for this Halloween festival were $6.66. What a deal. I
got to see the first band, but I don't know who they were. They were
not that good. I know that The Misfits were really popular in Detroit,
but I couldn't believe how many Misfits and Danzig shirts I saw. Almost
everywhere I looked everyone had on their classic skeleton gloves.
Of course tons of kids dressed as Misfits for Halloween with long,
ghoulish devil-locks. The State Theater was packed. This place reminds me
a lot of The Palace in Hollywood. Same type of set up.
It was time for DANZIG. The opened w/ "Mother." In fact the set list was
almost identical to the one they did on the OzzFest. The kids went crazy.
There were like 2 or 3 pits the entire show. I saw bodies flying. This time
I had a clear shot of the entire band. Tommy Victor made the guitar scream.
That's how Glenn likes it, Loud and Noisy. Lazie was really into it and was
also singing along to all the songs. I know Joey C. hits the drums hard, but
this night he beat the HELL out of them. Glenn wore his black mesh shirt.
He was in a very good mood. It was great to see the crowd's reaction. They were
going nuts.
For the encore, Glenn came out bare chested. The songs they played from the
new record where "Sacrifice," "7th House," and "Hand of Doom" (If you get the
lyrics to this version please e-mail me). They also played "She Rides" and
"Heart of The Devil." This is definitely the best show I've seen w/ the new
line-up. I'm sure if you speak to anyone who went to this show they would
agree that they kicked ass!
