Show: DANZIG - "Koln Bizzare Festival"
Location: Koln, Germany
This was my first Danzig show.....I traveled around 1000 miles from Croatia to see Glenn at the Bizarre Festival in Cologne, Germany and hell it was worth it! About 12-15,000 people were at the show. I was there early and saw Moonspell and Fear Factory. Tickets were pretty expensive $50.
Finally, "Overture Of The Rebel Angels" started and nearly 3 minutes later Joey came on stage and right after him Josh and Jeff?? but still no sign of Glenn. When the song finished they started with "Mother" and Glenn ran out. It was wild. He had some problems with the mic a couple of times. I was very suprised to see so many people in Danzig, Misfits t-shirts and few even in Samhain. Everyone could see Glenn was in a good mood....flying around the whole stage....the whole band looks really cool. I would dare to say even cooler than with the first line-up and I even like the first line-up more. The second song they played was "7th House" and they played it fucking great. The crowd was delerious. Then they played "It's Coming Down" and "Until You Call On The Dark" which sounded very cool...guitar sound was different than on 4p. Then came "Sacrifice," first 20 seconds were on playback than they started playing.
It sounded really fuckin' great. They countinued with "Snakes of Christ," "Dirty Black Summer" and "Her Black Wings." Then he played the X-Files song "Deep" and then "Bringer of Death." I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when I recognized drums from "Death Comes Ripping." The entire crowd went crazy....they played the song fucking great....unfortunatley it was the last song. Every band was limited to 45 mins.
It was a great show! Too bad it didn't last longer. He said he'll come again next year. Hopefully I'll be there again. After the show I was a little dissapointed because Danzig was the only band in 3 days of the festival which didn't come to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. Don't have a clue why because everyone did, but I came home very happy because I finally had the opportunity to see Danzig "live." Can't wait 'till the european tour next summer.
